Lionheart exists because our owner wanted to work somewhere that supported its people and did not settle. That is a hiring standard as much as a building one. We plan to double our crews over the next two to three years.
Josh Phillips worked his way up to second in command at another fence and deck company. When it closed and he started Lionheart in 2020, supporting employees was on the short list of things he set out to do differently, alongside doing quality work and doing what the company says it will do.
What that means practically: you work for Lionheart, not for a labor broker. The company that sold the job is the company you are building it for. And the standards you are asked to hold, steel posts, proper footings, and a gate that still latches in two years, are the same standards we bring to every project.
We are growing. Roughly doubling crews and project volume over the next two to three years is the plan, with more deck and outdoor-living work in the mix.

A real conversation about the work, the crew and what you are after.
Meet the team and ask questions. You should be getting to know us too.
Role, pay, and schedule are discussed directly with you.
If you are already in the trade, tell us what you have built. If you are not, tell us why you want to be. We have hired both.
Questions first? Call (360) 810-4810 and ask for the shop.
Do I need fencing experience?
No. We have hired experienced installers and people who had never set a post, and both have worked out. What matters is whether you will do the work right when nobody is watching.
What does a typical day look like?
You will be on a crew, working on properties across Thurston, Pierce, Mason, and Lewis counties, building work that is meant to last. Early starts are normal in this trade.
Do you work through the winter?
Yes. We work year-round, including through the winter months.
What area would I be working in?
Out of Tumwater, across Thurston, Pierce, Mason, and Lewis counties, roughly an hour and a half in any direction.
Do you provide tools and equipment?
Talk to us about what you would need. Equipment, trucks, and what you are expected to bring are all part of the conversation when we discuss the role.
Is there room to move up?
Yes. We plan to roughly double our crews and projects over the next two to three years, creating opportunities for people already here to take on more responsibility as we grow.
What does it pay?
Role, pay, and schedule are discussed directly with you because they depend on the position and what you bring to it. Send an application, or call the shop and ask.
Our crews head out from Tumwater to projects across Thurston, Pierce, Mason, and Lewis counties throughout our service area.
