Odd grades. Long sightlines. A look you have in your head that nobody has quoted you yet. Custom is not a product tier. It is what happens when the fence is designed around your property instead of a panel size.
People usually arrive here because something about their property does not suit a standard fence. The ground falls away. The line is not straight. There is a view worth keeping on one side and more privacy needed on the other. A standard quote treats all of that as an inconvenience; a custom build treats it as the brief.
The second kind of custom is aesthetic: horizontal runs, mixed materials, or a fence that has to agree with a particular house. That is a real reason too, and it is a conversation best had standing in the yard.
Either way, the method is the same. We walk it with you, work out what the fence has to do, and then design something that does it, rather than picking the closest thing off a list.
Horizontal fencing makes alignment especially important because each board runs across the fence line. Careful layout and properly placed posts keep everything straight and consistent.
Step it or rake it. That decision changes the whole look of the property and should be made deliberately, with you, before anything is dug.
Wood where you want warmth, metal where you want the view. The tricky part is the transition, and the transition is the part we plan first.
Not just the fence line. Where you sit, what you look at, where you come in and out.
Privacy, containment, boundary, appearance, or usually some combination, in a specific order of importance to you.
Step or rake. It is the single biggest visual decision on a sloped property.
Gate positions drive the layout of everything else. Deciding them early saves a compromise later.
Standard on our wood fencing, custom or not. The structure stays strong and consistent.
Scope, materials and what the finished project is. Clear documentation all around.
Photos of the property and of anything you have been saving as a reference help a lot.
We walk it together and work out what the fence has to solve before we talk materials.
The design described in plain language, itemized, with nothing assumed.
Your project gets a date and a clear timeframe for the work.
Ours to handle.
Our own crew builds to plan, then walks the finished project with you.
“An entry gate… a new railing for our historic home — this crew does excellent work… I’d recommend them to anyone for any project that requires high quality work, attention to detail and the aesthetic vision to build something beautiful for the space it’ll live in.”
— Jenifer Wright, Google review“Christian, the lead installer, and his crew were professional, meticulous and took exceptional care of the plants growing inside the majority of the entire fence line.”
— LL J, Google review“If you haven’t seen the quality craftsmanship of Lionheart Fence Builders, take a look at some of their completed projects. Their work truly speaks for itself!”
— Kristine Zitny, Google reviewCustom work is quoted the same way everything else here is: after somebody has stood on the property. The difference is that the conversation is longer, because we agree on what gets built as well as what it costs.
Our minimum project is $5,000.
$5,000 project minimumWe don't price by the foot because there is more to the job than the measurement. Your written price comes after we've seen the ground, the access, and the full scope.
Apply online ahead of your estimate so you can review your financing options before the project is priced. Terms, provider, and eligibility details are confirmed during the application.
Do you provide drawings?
We design with you on the property and document the agreed scope before work starts. If engineered or stamped drawings are required, they are a separate cost discussed at the estimate.
Can you match a photo I found?
Bring it along. Many custom projects start with a photo. We will tell you what works with your property and grade, and what may need to change.
Can you combine materials on one property?
Yes. Wood can add warmth, metal can preserve views, and heights can vary across elevations. The transitions take careful planning, so those are worked out first.
How do you handle a sloped yard?
A fence can step down a slope in level sections or follow the ground in a continuous line. The choice affects the finished look, so it is discussed during the estimate.
What exactly does the lifetime workmanship warranty cover?
It covers installation quality while the original customer owns the property. Workmanship or installation issues are repaired at no labor cost. It is the only lifetime workmanship warranty among Thurston County fence companies.
Do you handle the permit and the utility locate?
Yes. Utility locates are cleared before digging, and required permits are handled. Because requirements vary by jurisdiction, what applies to your specific property is checked during the estimate.
Is there financing?
Financing is available, including 0% options on approved credit. You can apply online before your estimate, so the visit can focus on what you want built and the options available.
