Why homeowners choose Lionheart

We are almost never the cheapest bid, and we've stopped apologizing for it.

A low number usually means thinner boards, shallower holes, and a crew that has moved three counties away by the first wet winter. For those who choose Lionheart, every dollar of the difference is in something you can point at: the cedar itself, the steel below the soil line, the fact that the person building it is part of our team.

If you're collecting three quotes and sorting by price, we won't be at the top of that list. If you'd rather do this project only once, let's walk your property together.

Our project minimum is $5,000
Straight answer

Why we cost more, and why that ends up cheaper

Steel below the soil

Wood posts rot from the buried end first. Ours are steel, set in concrete, with the wood mounted above the soil line. The lower end is the part you never see and the part that ends most fences early.

Our crews, no substitutes

Three install crews on our own team. Nobody is racing to the next job, and the person who built it is still here when you call.

A warranty that outlives the trend

Lifetime warranty on workmanship, for as long as you own the property. It is the only lifetime workmanship warranty among fence companies in Thurston County.

The craft

Built for rain, wind, and clay

Most fence failures here aren't due to age. They're a dry-climate spec installed in a wet one. Here's what we do differently, and why.

01

Cedar that earns its reputation

Western red cedar carries natural oils that resist rot and insects without chemical treatment, but grade matters enormously. We go through the cedar we are specifying with you on site, against your house, before anything is ordered.

02

The real enemy is saturated soil

Clay-heavy ground across Thurston County holds water all winter, loosening its grip on posts exactly when windstorm season leans on them. Depth, concrete, and grading that sheds water are what keep a fence upright in February.

03

Solid fences are sails

A six-foot privacy fence catches wind like a mainsail, so post size, depth and spacing have to compensate. We plan for these at the estimate rather than discover them when the wind blows.

04

Steel where wood shouldn't be

Steel set in concrete below grade, wood mounted above the soil line. The steel takes the structural load and the wood never touches saturated ground; plus steel gate frames, because gates sag long before fences do.

05

Moss, splashback, and shade

North-facing runs grow moss that holds moisture against the boards like a sponge, and clay splashback keeps the bottom course wet at the grade line, the dark zone where rot starts. Board choice, ground clearance, and drainage detailing beat both.

06

Salt air is its own spec

Within a couple of miles of the Sound, exposure is harder on hardware than it is inland. We talk through what that means for your specific site at the estimate rather than assume it does not matter.

What you get

What's actually in it

Written out plainly, because this is the part a low bid leaves off the page.

✓

Steel posts, set in concrete

The buried element never rots. It's a single change that decides how long the rest of the fence lives.

✓

Steel gate frames

Gates take more abuse than any other part of a fence. Steel keeps them square and latching.

✓

811 locates and city permits

We call the utility locate and wait for it to clear before we dig. Where your jurisdiction requires a permit, the paperwork is ours.

✓

Old fence out, site left clean

Demolition, disposal, and cleanup are in the quote, not added to it afterwards.

✓

The full material spec, in writing

Every board, post, fastener, and fitting is listed on your estimate. It is what separates us from a cheaper quote on paper.

✓

Final walkthrough before we call it complete

We walk the finished line with you, and the workmanship warranty lasts for life, in writing.

Five things move your number

We quote on site because no two yards are the same. These are what your estimator is actually looking at while you walk it together.

01

Linear feet

The biggest single factor, and the easiest to get wrong from a satellite image.

02

Height and style

Six-foot privacy, picket or horizontal: each carries different material.

03

Grade and access

Slopes, rock, roots, and whether a truck can reach the line at all.

04

Gates

How many, how wide, and whether any of them need to be doubled.

05

Removal

What's standing there now, and what it takes to get it out and away.
